Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest

After hearing the name, you might expect something a little more... grizzly sounding. I must say these guys are most definitely not grizzly. Smooth harmonies, funky bass lines, and some awesome dissonances characterize Veckatimest.

There are several reasons why I like this album. First, Grizzly Bear are incredible songwriters. Almost every song is really well crafted. Second, the vocals. They're so high pitched that they sometimes make me question the masculinity of the band, well, sometimes. Think of like barbershop harmonies except cooler. That's the best way I can describe it. And third, the consistency. It's a listenable album, through and through.

However, their sound can get a little old. That's my only beef with Veckatimest. Other than that, this album is near perfect. If it doesn't immediately grab you (like me), then it's definitely worth another listen. Definitely. So pick up the dusty packaging and stick it back in your stereo.
